However, they warned that it's challenging to see surface details on the planet and recommended a much bigger telescope for that purpose. Newcomers to stargazing can calculate magnification by dividing the focal length of the telescope by the eyepiece focal length. It's best not to magnify too much as it can result in a blurry image. For planets and the Moon, the reviewer recommends a 13-mm TeleVue Ethos or an 8-mm TeleVue Delos eyepiece for the CPC 800. The theoretical maximum resolution of the telescope is 0.69 arcseconds.
