Will it fit my struts trunk lid on 2003 nissan 350Z?
Answer: As all hood and trunk struts have about the same diameter polished shaft, I can only imagine they will. Never found a hood or trunk strut this didn’t work on... -

Will it scratch up the 'shank' making it leak? Some sort of rubber/plastic being pressed or metal to metal contact?
Answer: It actually feels like aluminum as opposed to steel. There isn’t any sort of rubber gasket on the inside so it’s basically metal and the screw making contact. I used it to support my SUV’s back lift gate until I could get the piston replaced.
