Answer: This yarn is recommended for use with 5 mm knitting needles and 5.5 mm crochet hooks. -

Does this off-white Red Heart Soft Yarn have a cream color look to it?
Answer: Yes, it has a cream color; however, with my shipments (I ordered several) the color was not consistent. Some skeins were more of a soft butter yellow. -

Is this yarn appropriate to make an afghan?
Answer: Very much so! I made a beautiful afgan with this yarn, as well as cowls and caps. It's lovely to work with. -
Question:
Is this yarn 4 ply worsted?
Answer: Yes this is 4 ply and it is rated as #4 weight. It is on the thinner end of the 4 wgt category, not really a good worsted weight. The Red Heart soft is a bit thicker than Caron Soft, but not as thick as Red Heart's Super Savor or With Love yarns. As the name says, it will give you a soft article that is more pliant than the thicker medium wgt yarns. -

Answer: Solid colors are 5 ounces per skein and ombres or prints are 4 ounces per skein. -

Is this worsted weighted?
Answer: This has a #4 rating for the weight, but it's thinner than what is normally considered worsted weight. It's more like a 3 1/2 weight. If your pattern calls for worsted wgt, you can use this and it will come out a little thinner, softer and more pliant than it would have with the true worsted. If you are making something like a hat, scarf or sweater, it will work well. If you are making an afghan, you might prefer a true worsted wgt like the Red Heart With Love. -

Do I need a ball winder to use this yarn? Or can I just pull from the center of the skein to crochet?
Answer: You can pull the end from the skein -
Question:
Would this be appropriate for an Aran sweater for a man? How many skeins would I need if the pattern calls for 28 oz.?
Answer: You want something in a medium weight (4) or worsted. You would not want anything extremely soft or light for a man's sweater. A Red Heart Super Tweed might be nice. Most yarns come in 3 oz or 5 oz etc. So it depends on the size of the skein on how much to buy. I always try to have a little more on hand just in case so I would buy 10-3 oz skeins or 6-5 oz skeins. I hope this helps. -
