Kids & Family Editorial Review

Saving Mr. Banks is a film that offers more than just the behind-the-scenes story of "Mary Poppins." It explores themes of corporate intrigue and personal conflicts, which adds depth to the overall narrative. While the film does have moments where it drags, it overall soars with outstanding performances from its talented cast. The 1960 Disney studio takes a backseat to the real-life events that author Emma Thompson based her book on. Colin Farrell delivers a strong performance as "Mr. Banks," Emma Thompson's father and a bank executive. Rachel Griffith also shines in her portrayal of Emma Thompson's sister, who inspired the character of Mary Poppins. The chemistry between the actors is worth the price of admission. "Saving Mr. Banks" is a movie that can be enjoyed multiple times, as it offers new insights with each viewing. The story never gets old, and the performances are captivating, especially Tom Hanks' portrayal of Walt Disney himself. Overall, this is a good movie that provides an interesting perspective on the making of "Mary Poppins" and the relationship between Walt Disney and P.L. Travers.
