Mission Barbarossa is a challenging expansion to the original Blitzkreig game, with enhanced realism and difficulty that takes the game to the next level. The AI is much more advanced, with tougher opponents, mortars that can inflict severe damage, and snipers that are less invincible. The two-man team of spotters with binoculars is a real bonus, and the extended sight lines can be both annoying and beneficial. The sound quality is upgraded and artillery plays a vital role. While some scenarios can be difficult to beat, especially in easy mode, success is rewarded with reinforcements as in real-life blitzkrieg tactics.
